The 4th Measles-Rubella Mini Symposium  will be held in Decatur, Georgia, USA on October 6-7, 2015. The meeting will be convened by the Sabin Vaccine Institute.

History

The Measles Mini-Symposiums were initiated by Dr. Roberto Cattaneo in 2007 with a meeting held in Rochester, MN. The 2ndmeeting was also held in Rochester, MN in 2011, followed by the 3rd meeting in Annecy, France in 2013 which was organized by Dr. Denis Gerlier.  In 2015, the meeting will be organized by Jon Andrus of Sabin and local organizer Richard Plemper of Georgia State University. Paul Rota from CDC will serve as chair of the program committee.

Scope of the Meeting

While the first 3 Mini-Symposia focused mainly on basic virology and immunology of measles, for the 4th Mini-Symposium the scope of the meeting will be broadened to include research on rubella virus as well as epidemiological research. The meeting will consist of two full days of 15-20 minute oral presentations with the possibility of a poster session. The meeting will start with a brief presentation of the status of the global measles control program, and there will be a roundtable discussion to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the development of the first reverse genetics system for measles virus. The meeting will conclude with a discussion on translating research results to programmatic relevance. A full agenda will be available in the coming months and will be posted here.
