“The adoption of a measles elimination goal in SEAR provides a new opportunity to reinforce efforts and maintain momentum in the Region to (i) strengthen routine immunization and achieve >95% coverage with two doses of measles-containing vaccine; (ii) optimizing the timing of MCV1 and MCV2 doses based on the epidemiology of measles in each country; (iii) conduct high quality SIAs; (iv) enhance surveillance and build on existing laboratory networks to perform case-based surveillance; and (v) seek opportunities to synergy with other  programmes, such as use of the measles elimination platform to integrate rubella and CRS control efforts.”
